George Clooney Joins Grubhub's Succulent Super Bowl 'Feest' from Yorgos Lanthimos

Created and produced by Anomaly, the 'Jay Kelly' actor debuts at the Big Game as mysterious banquet guest in quirky ad from the Greek director, writes LBB's Ben Conway

Created and produced by creative agency Anomaly, Grubhub's Super Bowl ad has partnered Greek auteur Yorgos Lanthimos ('Poor Things', 'Bugonia') with Hollywood star George Clooney.

Together, the Superprime director and Academy Award-winning movie star are tackling the biggest barrier to ordering delivery – the fees. Announcing that Grubhub will 'eat the delivery fees' on restaurant orders over $50, the cinematic spot unfolds at an extravagant dinner party where none of the eccentric guests want to pay the fees.

In a twist of fate, George Clooney appears to step in and challenge the claim that anybody need pay the fees at all. Grubhub has them covered.

"This is a defining moment for Grubhub. A business shift this fundamental required a creative vision to match," said Marnie Kain, VP and head of brand at Grubhub. "By pairing Yorgos' avant-garde lens with George's effortless gravitas, we've transformed our new value proposition into a cultural moment. We're not just eating the fees, we're making it impossible for the world to look at delivery the same way again."

The 'Grubhub Will Eat the Fees' spot will air in the third quarter of the Big Game on Sunday, February 8th. The full ad launches following a teaser campaign that hinted at the mysterious 'final course' of the vibrant meal -- the last dish, of course, now revealed to be 'the fees'.

"Grubhub is great, working with Yorgos was fantastic, and I couldn't be happier to be part of this campaign," said George Clooney in a brand statement. Yorgos has also directed a Super Bowl ad for Squarespace this year, created in-house and helmed by frequent collaborator, Emma Stone.

The Big Game spot kicks off a broader campaign extending beyond the 30-second ad. This includes out-of-home advertising, digital activations, and a slate of exclusive deals rolling out during Big Game week and continuing throughout the winter.
