As technology dominates the conversation, the Venice TV Award puts the focus back on high-quality stories and original content

Two weeks after the Venice Film Festival, a distinguished panel of international jurors will convene in Venice for the Venice TV Award. Gold trophies and nominees will be awarded to outstanding achievements in television across 19 categories. The award is supported by ACT (Association of Commercial TV), egta (European Group of Television Advertising) and the IMZ International Music + Media Centre.

“Television awards like the Venice TV Award are important because they validate the commitment of the broadcasters to producing high-quality content,” says Grégoire Polad, director general of the association of commercial television in Europe.

“As a juror, I really enjoy seeing a fascinatingly broad range of filmmaking subjects and styles on display,” shares Alan Holland, head of specialist factual productions at BBC Studios.

Broadcasters, production companies, distributors and streaming platforms are invited to enter, with categories spanning Documentary, Series, News, Performing Arts, Children/Youth, Comedy, Light Entertainment and more. Eligible submissions must have premiered between 1st January 2025 and 20th September 2026, with an entry deadline of 30 June.

“We are happy to support the Venice TV Award. Great content is a must for the future of our industry, so we are pleased to acknowledge the merit of those who produce it,” stated Katty Roberfroid, director general of egta, European Group of Television Advertising.

“Cable, broadcasters and streaming giants can talk about technology all they want, but the core of the future of TV lies in the development and production of high-quality stories and original content. Being able to see and judge high-quality engaging content at the Venice TV Award is what makes this award so important and so relevant,” says Karim Bartoletti, board member of EPA (European Producers Association) and president of CPA (Case di Produzione Associate).

Additionally, emerging talents from across the globe will have a chance to shine at the Venice TV Award's Young Creative Initiative, held in collaboration with Scuola di Cinema Luchino Visconti, where they can showcase their work to leading television professionals.

Winners will be announced on 29th September. Visit here to enter.
