My Most Immortal Ad: Taj Critchlow on Artículo 19's The Shooting

In the run up to this year’s Immortal Awards deadline, jurors are selecting the campaigns that, in their minds, have stood the test of time: their 'Most Immortal Ad'.

Taj Critchlow, founder and executive producer at Fela, selects a beautifully crafted and cinematic film that sheds light on the high-stakes risks, threats, and violence that journalists face in Mexico.

Artículo 19 - The Shooting

When I first saw this piece, it rocked me to the core. This beautifully crafted and cinematic film shed light on the high-stakes risks, threats, and violence that journalists face in Mexico. It's an unfiltered and unapologetic portrayal that brings a level of intensity and authenticity that I feel is missing from commercial storytelling. This short film is more relevant than ever. Journalists are being targeted everywhere from conflict zones to democracies. Freedom of the press is a right worth defending, and in a moment when information is manipulated and censored, the truth is the only thing we have.

The Immortal Awards entry system is now open and entries into competition will be accepted until September 4th 2026. All entries must be made for a commissioning client, and must have first aired, broadcast, displayed, launched or published between September 2025 and 31st August 2026.

Any LBB member can enter work into The Immortal Awards. Standard and Premium members are entitled to a maximum of five entries, whilst Basic members are entitled to two.
