First Concepts Back the Next Generation of Talent with Live AI Creative Challenge at Mother

Mother ECD Tom Bender, Uncharted founder Laura Jordan Bambach and Jellyfish VP of brand strategy Tom Roach to judge responses to a live Granola brand brief

First Concepts is on the hunt for 40 of London’s most promising emerging creatives for Creative Sprint, a fast-paced 90-minute creative competition exploring what happens when creative technology meets human craft and creative thinking.

Hosted at Mother on 17th September, participants will be given a live brief from Granola, the AI notepad for back-to-back days. They will have 90 minutes to develop a concept using First Concepts, an AI-native creative workspace, before pitching their work to a panel of leading creative figures, who will select a winner on the night.

With everyone working from the same brief and against the same clock, Creative Sprint puts the emphasis back on the thing technology can’t standardise: the idea, the judgement behind it and how far each creative chooses to push it.

The judging panel will be led by Tom Bender, executive creative director at Mother, Tom Roach, VP brand strategy at Jellyfish, and Laura Jordan Bambach, founder & chief creative officer of Uncharted and former president of D&AD.

The September event is the third edition of Creative Sprint, which comes as First Concepts continues to explore how emerging creative technology can support, rather than replace, the craft and thinking at the heart of great creative work.

The company raised a $1M pre-seed in January and after a year of beta with teams across the UK and US, will launch publicly this September.

Conor Hoey, founder & CEO at First Concepts commented, “We’ve entered a time where almost anyone can make almost anything. When execution becomes abundant, choosing what deserves to exist becomes the real advantage. The quality of the question, the references you bring and the decisions you make matter more than ever. That’s the future we’re building First Concepts around, and also what Creative Sprint puts to the test.”

Tom Bender, executive creative director at Mother added, “The interesting question isn’t whether AI will change creativity. It already is. It’s what we choose to do with it. Creative Sprint is an opportunity to use AI to stretch our thinking, unlock new possibilities and get to ideas we couldn’t have reached on our own.”
