LEGO – Technic Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear

Chosen by Abi Lightfoot, reporter, Americas

Visualising 4,104 pieces of LEGO is quite a feat for the imagination. Thankfully, LEGO and Shanghai subway made it that bit easier by launching a series of public installations celebrating the engineering expertise behind the Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear hypercar, which also happens to be the latest addition to LEGO’s Technic range.

One of the world’s most exclusive hypercars – with only 30 road-legal vehicles ever produced – the visual activation offers viewers a glimpse into the engineering excellence behind the car, replicated piece by piece in 1:8 scale through LEGO. Showcasing the technicalities behind some of the hypercar’s most impressive features, from its twin-turbo engine to Triplex suspension system, the deconstructed visualisations of the vehicles emphasise just how impressive they are in their entirety.

Circle – The Bored Room

Watch the full eight hour stream here

Chosen by Laura Swinton Gupta, editor-in-chief

Over 1.3 million people tuned into an eight hour livestream of fictional office workers waiting for a single payment to clear. With an airless aesthetic and world that’s part ‘Backrooms’, part ‘Severance', this absurdist comedy is an ambitious experiment for financial platform Circle. Created by BURN Studio and directors Nicola and Juliana Giraffe (Giraffe Sisters), it’s a surprisingly absorbing story of admin hell that questions the modern ‘wisdom’ that audiences’ attention spans are rotted and work must be short, fast and high volume.

got2b – Cool Colour

Chosen by Sunna Coleman, reporter, Asia

Having dark hair myself, I know the intense heat it can trap during very hot weather, so this campaign spoke to me. From I&S BBDO Japan, got2b launches 'Cool Colour' – a new way to look at hair colouring as a method of keeping cool in the worrying age of global warming.

Backed by an experiment on human hair wigs dyed with got2b colour, the campaign reveals how varying shades offer different levels of cooling effect – with blonde offering temperatures of up to 13.05 degrees celsius less hot than black after just 20 minutes of direct sunlight exposure.

On the surface, it looks like a very on-brand, standard campaign for the brand but it’s underpinned by one of the most surprising, left-field insights we’ve seen in recent weeks.

Marmite – WeMite

Chosen by Cathy Meyer-Funnell, reporter, EMEA

Another week, another World Cup activation. This time it’s Marmite with their simple yet hopeful ‘WeMite’ design, a special edition jar for England fans travelling across the pond for the tournament. Created by adam&eve\TBWA, the jars are available for purchase for those travelling on the Heathrow Express, with each size reflecting a corresponding degree of optimism: the smallest ‘WeMite Reach the Quarters’, a middling ‘WeMite Reach the Semis’ and the largest ‘WeMite Go and Win It’ for those who believe with absolute certainty that it is in fact coming home. A taste of home is always a comfort when travelling far away, especially with the added stress of backing a team like England, and the true Britishness of this campaign steals my heart. Bring it home boys!

KFC – Finger Lickin’ Fourth

Chosen by Ben Conway, reporter, Americas

The fourth of July is a day for finger food. And when it comes to finger food, there’s a finger lickin’ king… or Colonel. But you can’t eat with (and lick) your fingers, if you’ve blown them off – and that’s where one of the other mainstays of Independence Day celebrations, fireworks, pose a significant threat.

So if KFC wants to send out a PSA that protects people’s digits this weekend, who better to partner with than a team of people extremely well versed in fireworks malpractice and general explosive misbehaviour? Enter the cast and crew of Jackass.

Johnny Knoxville, who now bears a striking resemblance to Colonel Sanders, fronts the film, warning that this holiday is peak season for finger injuries and offering coy advice. Directed by none other than Jeff Tremaine, who’s back behind the camera for the new ‘jackass: best and last’ feature, the spot has its share of wacky stunt moments, if slightly tame by the franchise’s standards, and has given me some (sensible) ideas for the weekend. A bargain bucket and a trip to the cinema, anyone?

André 3000 – 7 Piano Sketches

Chosen by Laura Swinton Gupta, editor-in-chief

You know what you need right now? I’ll tell you. A fifteen-minute long film for an EP of improvisational jazz piano. Stay with me. ‘7 Piano Sketches’ is a meditation on personal creativity as the artist trudges the streets with his piano strapped to his back, pausing occasionally to do a quick drawing or navigate sidewalk etiquette. It’s entirely self-indulgent but utterly absorbing, peppered with moments of wit and humour. I’m just back from Cannes Lions, where I’ve had a week of chat about optimisation and data and AI and all that blah, blah, blah (and my social media feed is full of more of the same, given all the creators who were down there), and this dose of art for the sake of it has been a surprising pick-me-up. As someone whose knowledge of André 3000 starts and ends with ‘Hey Ya!’’ (sorry! I am a musical pygmy!), the film has genuinely opened my ears up to a whole new side to him as an artist. And isn’t that what music videos are supposed to do?

Argos – It’s Coming Home

Sometimes keeping things simple is the most effective strategy. That can apply on the football pitch, just as much as in life, and strategy pitches. The team at T&P have demonstrated this with prowess.

Argos didn’t need a long film or one of the England team’s superstars to make a mark on the World Cup. Instead it played on its red logo and white delivery vans to deliver a very simple message, 'It’s Coming Home'. Even more fittingly, the out-of-home has a very playful nod to the trappings of a Three Lions summer – a paddling pool named ‘Hydration Break’, a blood pressure machine named ‘Pens’ and a pair of binoculars named ‘Sky It’. The England team might still have a long road ahead, but Argos has already brought it home.

Rich The Kid – Calling My Line

Chosen by Olivia Atkins, EMEA Craft Editor

Rich The Kid's music video is a nostalgic yet forward-thinking ode to human connection, directed by Henry's Bleu Désert. By centring the narrative on the telephone - whether it's retro landlines or modern mobiles - the film treats technology as a cultural constant that tracks our societal evolution. The video masterfully juxtaposes raw, handheld VHS footage with AI-reworked vignettes of iconic pop culture figures from 'The Big Lebowski' and 'Pulp Fiction', to name a few. Seamlessly blending past and present representations of communication, the film is a powerful reminder that while our tools constantly change, the pursuit to stay connected remains enduringly human.
