adidas, in collaboration with The Midnight Club and KODE, has released the third film in the Illuminated series, an evocative short documentary that offers a unique look into the world of Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade.
Directed by Stanley Brock and David Terry Fine, the film shifts perspective away from the athlete herself, instead capturing Rebecas journey through the eyes of her long-time coach, Francisco Porath, affectionately known as Xico. This unique lens reveals the dedication, trust, and resilience that shapes one of the most decorated gymnasts of her generation.
Unlike traditional sports documentaries, this Illuminated instalment focuses on the unspoken bond between athlete and coach. Through candid glimpses of training sessions, personal reflections, video diaries, and intimate moments of preparation, the film uncovers a side of Andrade rarely seen by the public, one that only her coach, Xico could reveal.
Created and produced over the last year, Illuminated is a four-part film series created in partnership with adidas. Each instalment explores the authentic, human stories of athletes, told in an honest cinematic style.
The series began with NBA star Anthony Edwards, followed by Ballon d’Or winner Aitana Bonmatí, and now features Rebeca Andrade. The fourth and final chapter, spotlighting Mikaela Shiffrin, is currently in post-production.
