ESPN has welcomed teams to the 2025 College Football Playoff with a surprise this week - massive, 12-foot tall x 20-foot wide congratulatory signs, installed right smack in the middle of their campuses. The Huge Congratulations arrived mysteriously at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK, and Texas A&M in College Station, TX over the weekend to celebrate these teams for hosting a College Football Playoff First Round game and to drum up excitement for the arrival of ESPN’s College Gameday.
These huge congratulation signs were finalised based on the results of Selection Sunday on December 7th, and then delivered and installed on two campuses in less than a week. The wildly oversized signs will be in place for ESPN College Gameday and featured in ESPN programming throughout the First Round games on ABC/ESPN.
The campaign was created with Arts & Letters.
Brett Simone, creative director, Arts & Letters said, "Sometimes your team sells a really good idea about a huge college football playoff congratulations letter and it's a big win for everyone. But then you and your clients remember you now have five days to customise them for each school, manufacture all 240 square feet of each one, transport them to several rural college towns and build them. So you stress eat mint-chip ice cream. Then, some cherry jubilee. Then, it turns out, your team and your clients are incredibly competent and resilient, and it happens. It's what makes this partnership we have with ESPN great. You eat more ice cream to celebrate."
