Colourist Derek Hansen Joins Coffee & TV LA

Award-winning creative studio Coffee & TV has continued to grow its US footprint with the addition of renowned colourist Derek Hansen to its Los Angeles studio. Known for his cinematic eye and nuanced colour work, Derek brings more than a decade of experience working with top-tier directors, brands, and artists.

At Coffee & TV LA, he co-leads the studio’s expanding colour department alongside executive producer Adam Reeb.

“Derek brings a rare blend of narrative instinct and technical artistry,” said Adam. “He’s exactly the kind of talent who helps agencies and brands elevate their visual storytelling, and we’re super excited he’s bringing that energy to Coffee & TV LA.”

Derek most recently spent five years at AFX Creative, where he launched and built the colour department from the ground up. While there, he led a wide range of high-profile campaigns, including three years of work on Wendy’s, extensive automotive work for Chevy and Cadillac, and a celebrated holiday campaign for Chevrolet with director Joshua Kissi, which earned him an AICP Award in 2023.

He continues to collaborate with longtime friend and director Greg Hunt on Vans projects and skate documentaries. Greg, now creative director at Adidas Skateboarding, and Derek have worked closely across multiple commercial and branded content initiatives.

Earlier in his career, Derek trained under legendary colourist Mark Gethin at MPC LA, before holding roles at Velem and The Mill LA.
