Carnival Cruise Line Tackles America’s ‘Fun Deficit’ With Nick Offerman

The Emmy-winner’s deadpan wit anchors Carnival and TBWA\Chiat\Day NY's ‘Find Your Fun Again’ campaign, encouraging Americans to rediscover joy

Carnival Cruise Line have debuted 'Find Your Fun Again' campaign starring Emmy-winning actor, author, and humourist, Nick Offerman. The campaign is the first under the cruise line’s new brand platform, 'Carnival Is Calling.' Nick serves as the face of the campaign – or more specifically, the gruff craftsman who found his grin.

'Find Your Fun Again' leverages Nick's sense of humour to tackle a perceived fun deficit currently in America. Raised in a family of cruisers and Carnival fans and known for his serious face and hidden sense of mischief, Nick skilfully balances deadpan humour and playfulness. The ads were co-written with Nick's team of Parks and Recreation writers to make it unmistakably him.

“We believe Nick Offerman is the best person to be our ‘unlikely hero of fun.’ His signature blend of wry humour and credibility is the perfect way to deliver our message,” said Amy Martin Ziegenfuss, chief marketing officer of Carnival Cruise Line. “Nick’s personal mission, which aims to get kids off their screens and start creating projects, aligns with our vision of encouraging people to get out, reconnect and find their fun again, with Carnival.”

Nick joins a long line of Carnival celebrity spokespeople and brand ambassadors, including Shaquille O’Neal, Guy Fieri, Emeril Lagasse, Jonathan Bennett and of course, Kathie Lee Gifford, who launched Carnival and cruising into a mass market consumer brand and lifestyle.
