Bernini Spritzer Campaign Quietly Captures the Table That Won’t Leave

TBWA Hunt Lascaris Johannesburg flips the girls’ night trope to focus on the waiters holding out for closing time

Instead of showing a girls’ night, spritzer brand Bernini chose to show its absence.

Last To Leave campaign from TBWA Hunt Lascaris Johannesburg captures a familiar social moment - the table that won’t leave - entirely through the perspective of those waiting for it to end. By focussing on waiters at closing time, the campaign turns a simple human truth into something fresh, observational, and quietly humorous.

Bernini's campaign leans into the messy, overlapping, time-losing reality of real friendship, especially in South Africa where alcohol advertising aimed at women is usually over the top i.e. excessively girly, glitzy and pink.

The idea is built on absence. The main characters are never shown - which is a creative risk in a category that usually centres people and product. It relies entirely on the audience to 'complete' the story.

There’s also a broader cultural shift toward slower, more intentional living, especially among women - valuing presence over performance.

The campaign was shot using real people, real locations, and no AI or digital manipulation - a deliberate choice in a time when synthetic imagery is becoming the norm.
