In the first campaign from Audible’s newly formed in-house creative group, conceived in collaboration with Special US, the new creative honours the power of listening in a global campaign rolling out across film, OOH, social, audio and activations.
No small feat, the work will appear in a whopping 12 marketplaces and 11 languages, including the US, Canada, the UK, Spain, France, Italy, Germany and Australia. This will be followed by Mexico and Brazil later this month, with a Japan launch planned for later this year and India in 2027.
‘Stories that Speak to You’ works to highlight how Audible meets today’s craving for more fulfilling uses of time. It does so by honing in on how listening to stories can enrich lives, with talented storytellers capable of making you lose track of time. The brand describes this as “the last feeling of walking away net-better”.
Along with striking OOH photographed by Olivia Malone, the campaign features two films directed by Iconoclast director Megaforce. Each plays out with a comforting grade, telling stories of those lost in the grips of an audiobook.
In one, a father listening to a self-help book while with his baby daughter gains a new perspective, inspiring him to make changes. Before we know it, we’re journeying through years of moments in his and his daughters' lives, witnessing the results of such improvement. Jolted back into real life as the baby spews into his face, we see she doesn’t share his interest in the self-help genre.
In the other, we see a protagonist begin his run with a fiction book, then proceed to jog through unusual terrains, accidentally running two marathons by promising himself “one more chapter”.
"Our listeners seek stories that make them feel something and stay with them long after they press play,” says Cynthia Chu, CFO and growth officer at Audible. "[The campaign] captures the transcendent, transformative experience that has habituated so many people to Audible. The captivating, immersive storytelling we deliver to our listeners genuinely enriches the way they live."
‘Stories that Speak to You’ also celebrates Audible as an elevated entertainment experience, including original series and full-cast productions that feature top talent, all the way through to investigative journalism and reimaginings of classics.
The work is the next chapter in Audible’s global brand evolution, building on the company’s first global brand campaign, which launched back in 2024, ‘There’s More to Imagine When You Listen’.
It comes on the heels of the brand revealing this week that global membership grew by nearly 800% from 2015 to 2025 and is projected to more than double again within the next three years.
Kelsey Hodgkin, CEO at Special US, tells LBB, "It's becoming harder to find creative ideas that truly resonate on a global scale – ideas that don't just break through, but change behaviour. With ‘Stories That Speak to You’, we worked with Audible to capture the emotional value of audio storytelling.”
She adds, “In a world where so much content is instantly forgotten, Audible offers something rare: stories that stay with you."
Rolling out across media channels, the campaign will lean heavily into video, outdoor and social while capitalising on high-reach marquee moments throughout the flight, such as sport and key entertainment launches. The plan includes a takeover of London's King's Cross Station, Melbourne's Spencer Street tram station, and São Paulo retail destinations.
