While the red carpet might be rolled away for another year, last night's 98th Academy Awards saw an array of brands debut campaigns that will live on beyond awards season.
Aired live on ABC and streamed live on Hulu, Deadline reported that Disney had sold out of advertising inventory for the broadcast. Plus Rolex and Burger King were both on board as ‘Proud’ Sponsors, which allows the brands to use the Oscars IP in larger brand integrations.
The occasion saw TRESemmé and L’Oréal tap into the excitement around the upcoming release of ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’, as both brands alluded to the icon status of Runway Magazine’s editor in chief Miranda Priestly in their campaigns.
Meanwhile Burger King crowned its customers as the new ‘King’ in a bid to take accountability, and Mazda showcased the new CX-5's versatility in a five-film genre spanning campaign.
Finally, new Tiffany & Co. brand ambassador Natalie Portman offered viewers a glimpse into the many roles she inhabits as a producer, film director and mother – with help from filmmaking duo Brady Corbet and Mona Fastvold (‘The Brutalist’) – while Coinbase showcased a retro video game-inspired film encouraging people to break out of a broken financial system.
