ABEL has partnered with Westfund Health Insurance and the Australian Skin Cancer Foundation’s Mobile Skin Check Clinic to bring a fresh approach to preventative health — using technology and humour to drive real action.
From staying on top of preventative screenings to choosing a health fund that has your back, Westfund is helping Australians take one more thing off their to-do list by supporting free, on‑the‑road skin scans with the Australian Skin Cancer Foundation, including in regional communities. Facilitating the drive is a campaign built around a simple truth: moments of health vulnerability don’t have to feel overwhelming — they can be a simple step towards something positive.
Removing traditional barriers to access and cost, the clinic brings a world-first in 3D mobile skin-scanning technology directly to Australians. By meeting people where they are, the initiative by the Australian Skin Cancer Foundation raises awareness of the risks associated with skin cancer while also making early detection more accessible.
Rather than relying on scare tactics, the work invites Australians to laugh, relate and then act, proving that serious health messages don’t need to be serious in tone to be effective.
Chief customer officer at Westfund Health Insurance, Anna Maltabarow, said, “As a not‑for‑profit health fund, everything we do is about reinvesting in the health and wellbeing of our members.
“This campaign is a fun way for us to make health checks feel less daunting and to ensure Aussies feel supported and empowered when prioritising their health. It’s creative work that reflects our commitment to our members and the lengths we’ll go to in bringing life-saving services directly to their door.”
Phillip Robbie-Porter, ABEL creative partner, added, “We saw an opportunity to turn this collaboration into something that had both function and storytelling. Working with a partner like Westfund, who genuinely reinvests in its members, we were able to create something that could make a real difference: Combining technology, storytelling and a sense of humour.”
Now live nationally, the campaign brings this preventative message to life through an integrated rollout across direct response OOH, TVCs and a high‑impact sponsorship activation with the Penrith Panthers. The creative approach blends education with entertainment, using humour and vulnerability to reframe skin checks and switching health insurance providers from something intimidating into something
