Global production house electriclime° held a landmark evening at their Dubai office space °W13 bringing together a panel of women leaders from diverse key roles in the industry for °W13 x Women Leading Stories.
The event in Alserkal Avenue celebrated trailblazing women across industries, shining a spotlight on leaders who continue to inspire through innovation, resilience and vision and are actively contributing to the landscape of the industry.
Moderated by Dolly Saidy Makhoul, founder and managing director of Mint MENA, the evening opened with a powerful message, “This is not a conversation about women needing empowerment, I believe women are already powerful.” With that statement, Saidy set the tone for an insightful and dynamic discussion.
The event featured a compelling panel discussion, an interactive Q&A session with the audience, and an opportunity for meaningful networking among industry peers, creatives, and changemakers.
Included in the panel were film director, scriptwriter and TV presenter, Maitha Alawadi; chief marketing officer of Majid Al Futtaim, Sheila Chaiban; deputy general manager of marketing at Nissan, Carla El Hachem; and owner and managing director of JWI, Charli Wright.
From breaking barriers in business to championing diversity and inclusion, these women embody the power of leadership and mentorship.
When asked about how films are diversifying women's voices, Maitha Alawadi stated, “We’re going for authenticity and a true essence of our voice. In order to do that, we need to push the boundaries to tell our stories.”
Topics such as cross-collaboration between different creative leadership styles were brought to the forefront. Speakers emphasised how women’s unique perspectives form a powerful collective voice.
“As women, we have such different experiences and different perspectives. But when we’re all in agreement, those perspectives layer and that is how we can be relevant to such a wide audience,” said Charli Wright. Her words underscored the importance of unity in diversity, a cornerstone of the event’s mission to amplify women’s voices across industries and communities.
The conversation also turned to the impact women bring to the professional sphere. “The perspective, the multitasking, the empathy women bring to the table and maybe beyond that, just the diversity of thought to the decision-making table makes a successful company,” as Carla El Hachem shared. This reflects a growing recognition that women’s leadership not only fosters inclusivity but also directly contributes to innovation and long-term organisational growth.
Highlighting the universal value of empathy in leadership, Sheila Chaiban remarked, “If your strategy and your thinking is rooted at the core of human need and motivation, it will transcend ethnicities, countries, whatever it may be. And it will connect with people.”
Her perspective resonated with the event’s focus on storytelling within media that moves beyond borders, reminding audiences that meaningful narratives are built on shared human experiences.
Their stories highlighted not only personal achievements but also a commitment to paving the way for the next generation of female leaders.
