Intuit TurboTax is returning to the Super Bowl for the 13th year running with a comedic ad created by R/GA and starring Oscar-winning actor, Adrien Brody.
In the film, directed by MJZ's Craig Gillespie and with production support from Radke, we see Adrien first performing a dramatic monologue in the rain, dialling up the intensity, only for the director to call cut. Adrien's character is meant to be 'The Expert', and TurboTax experts "take the pain out of taxes".
Dismayed by this piece of direction, the star of 'The Brutalist' questions the very fabric of his career, if he has to play happy instead of the usual, brooding and troubled archetypes he's become known for.
The spot comes after a teaser campaign that revealed Adrien Brody as 'The Expert', showing him rehearsing in his trailer before shooting the ad.
Additionally, to help promote the new campaign, wild postings that introduced Adrien as ‘The Expert’ rolled out across New York City and LA.
The brand's film for Super Bowl LIX last year was directed by Traktor, via Stink Films, and featured actor and writer, Issa Rae.
The full 45-second ad for Super Bowl LX will air just before halftime on February 8th, following a 30-second teaser pre-game.
A two-minute extended cut is running on the brand’s owned digital channels, its retail locations, and in cinemas nationwide.
Keep up with everything Super Bowl LX here.
