YPF Sparks World Cup Orbit with ‘Eclipsed’

Directed by Watta Fernández and created with Isla Buenos Aires, the campaign communicates the ‘Football Special Offer’ kick-off

For the launch of the upcoming World Cup’s new football platform, YPF alongside Isla Buenos Aires have developed ‘Eclipsed’, a campaign inspired by a phenomenon that affects every Argentinian and communicates the ‘Football Special Offer’ kick-off.

“We are proud to be part of the launch of Argentina’s most important company’s World Cup platform. Due to its launch date, just six months before the beginning of the World Cup, we understand this first campaign as the World Cup’s kick-start. That is how the eclipse metaphor was born. Because, when the World Cup starts, Argentinians are only focused on the World Cup. We cannot talk about anything else. We are completely eclipsed,” Rodrigo Greco, Isla’s DGC, said.

Mariano Gamba, Islan’s DGC, added, “There is this feeling in Argentina of not letting go of the previous World Cup yet, and suddenly the upcoming World Cup is just around the corner. This year, the YPF football, thanks to its design and its timely presentation, will gain a special prominence: it is the first tangible sign that the World Cup is getting closer. The first clue connecting us with what’s to come.”

In turn, Agustina Pelfini, YPF’s CMO, said, “In YPF, we are proud to stand by our National Team and our ambassador Lionel Messi during the upcoming World Cup. We turned our traditional “Football Special Offer” into the starting point of something bigger: the launch of our new World Cup platform, “Full of Energy”, which will offer our clients special offers, benefits, experiences and much more, in the face of a very special year to come.”

The new football has two exclusive designs: Pink and Light Blue. They can only be found in the over 165 service stations across the country.

Apart from the commercial, directed by Watta Fernández, the campaign includes amplification pieces in social media, public areas and different activations.
