There is a universal feeling that comes just before a bold decision. A mixture of anticipation, excitement and nerves that asks whether to take the leap, turn off the familiar road, or simply say yes.
‘If not now, when?’, Virgin Atlantic Holidays’ new brand campaign created by Lucky Generals, captures exactly the feeling and is built around a simple belief that a holiday should do more than take people somewhere; that it should inspire them to make the most of every step - discovering more, connecting more deeply, an invitation to stop postponing the experiences that matter and creating stories that stay with them long after they return home.
The work marks a new chapter for Virgin Atlantic Holidays and is the first brand campaign since 2018 when it joined as a hero product of the Masterbrand, Virgin Atlantic. Today’s travellers are looking for more than a change of scenery. They want fresh inspiration, closer connections with the people, places and cultures they encounter, and the freedom to shape a trip around what matters to them. Virgin Atlantic Holidays is responding with experience-led holidays, curated possibilities and expert support designed to make every journey feel more personal, seamless and memorable.
The hero film brings all of this to life through a series of poised, high-anticipation moments in key destinations: a traveller at the edge of a cenote in Mexico, friends choosing between routes on a Nevada road trip, and the split-second before a new experience begins. Rather than revealing the outcome, the film holds viewers in that charged moment of possibility, building towards the campaign’s central question.
Set to ’Don’t Look Back Into The Sun’ by The Libertines, the film channels the rush of stepping outside the everyday and into something more memorable.
The campaign is supported by Virgin Atlantic Holidays’ growing range of curated travel experiences and itineraries, designed to help customers get closer to the character of each destination. From immersive food and culture to wellness, adventure and time with the people who know a place best, the offer gives travellers more ways to make a holiday their own.
The campaign takes a multi-channel approach, with media playing a central role in bringing the "If not now, when?" strategy to life by reaching audiences at meaningful moments and inspiring them to act. Rolling out in three phases, the campaign is designed to build awareness, encourage engagement and drive action, with activity continually refined throughout the campaign to maximise its impact and effectiveness.
Sophie Woodford, vice president, brand and marketing at Virgin Atlantic Holidays, said, “The most memorable parts of a holiday are often the moments when we try something new, take a chance or simply give ourselves permission to say yes. ‘If not now, when?’ captures that feeling of possibility.
“Virgin Atlantic Holidays is here to help people make more of those moments. By combining inspiring, experience-led holidays with thoughtful curation and expert support, we make it easier for customers to discover more, connect more deeply and holiday to the fullest.”
Danny Brooke-Taylor, founder at Lucky Generals, said, “Just thinking about the spontaneous joy of a Virgin Atlantic Holiday makes you stop what you're doing and ……….”
Lucy Holmes, managing partner at PHD, said, “This campaign is about sparking a sense of possibility. Our media strategy needed to reach people in the moments when they're most receptive to dreaming about their next adventure, whether that's on their commute, at the cinema, scrolling social feeds or enjoying premium content. Through a combination of landmark media placements, innovative audience-led technology, interactive experiences and carefully curated partnerships, we've created a campaign that doesn't just capture attention, it invites people to imagine what could happen if they simply said yes.”
