Glorily brings a performance-driven, emotionally grounded approach as Uppercut continues to build a future-forward creative community

As part of its ongoing growth, Uppercut has added editor Glorily Velez to the team. An editor guided by instinct, humour, and emotional truth, Glorily joins the team as Uppercut continues to expand a roster of voices shaping where storytelling is headed.

Glorily brings a range that moves comfortably across genres, always anchored in performance and feeling. Her work knows when to lean into a moment, when to hold back, and when the smallest beat can carry the most weight. Comedy is part of her toolkit, but not the headline, what defines her work is a sensitivity to tone and a commitment to making stories feel grounded, human, and alive.

She got her start in Chicago, a city known for sharp timing and honest point of view, and that early foundation still subtly informs her sense of rhythm. But her work today reflects something broader. An editor who adapts easily, collaborates deeply, and shapes stories based on what each project actually needs.

Fluent in both Spanish and English, Glorily brings a bilingual editorial lens to her work, particularly within Hispanic-market storytelling. For her, language isn’t a category, it’s an additional creative drawer to pull from, shaping performance, pacing, and authenticity in ways that deepen the connection between story and audience.

At the heart of Glorily’s process is relationships. Before opening a bin or scanning dailies, she prioritises conversation, connecting with directors and creative teams to understand tone, intent, and energy. From there, she throws on her headphones, setting the mood with some music as she digs into the dailies and starts to explore what the footage wants to become. That shared understanding early on is what allows the work to stay honest all the way through.

“Bringing editors like Glorily into Uppercut is exactly how we continue to grow the company the right way,” said Micah Scarpelli, founder and editor at Uppercut. “As a Chicago native, it’s exciting to welcome someone who got their start there. I’m really looking forward to seeing what she brings.”

Executive producer Mila Davis added, “Glorily elevates both the work and the room. As Uppercut expands, it’s important that we do it with people who genuinely care about the process and she does.”

Looking ahead, Glorily is excited to grow alongside a team that values collaboration, creative trust, and long term evolution. Mentorship is especially important to her, something she credits as foundational to her own career and she’s eager to contribute to a culture built on strong client relationships, openness, and shared momentum.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the LA office and the Uppercut editorial roster at such an exciting time,” Glorily said. “There’s a strong creative momentum here, and I’m excited to contribute to it. I truly believe in the work they’re doing and the culture they’re building.”

As she steps into this next chapter, what she hopes audiences ultimately take away from her work remains simple: that it has heart.

With Glorily joining the team, Uppercut continues to build a future forward roster. Editors who don’t just execute, but help shape the work, the relationships, and the culture around it.
