Uncommon London has welcomed Will John as executive creative director (ex-Saatchi & Saatchi) to further strengthen its creative leadership line-up. Will John joins a growing creative leadership team, including ECD’s Julie Matheny, Josh Tenser, Albert Pukies, global creative partner Sam Walker and recent hire for Uncommon’s CX practice ECD Tyler Hendy.
The appointment follows a landmark period of growth for the London studio, which has achieved growth of more than 40% year-on-year since its inception. In 2026 alone, the studio has secured a string of significant new business wins, including BT (in one of the industry's most competitive pitches of the year) and Under Armour, while long-standing partnerships with Instagram and EA SPORTS FC have continued to drive strong organic growth.
The appointment also comes on the back of an exceptional awards season for the studio globally. Its work was recognised with five coveted Yellow Pencils at D&AD, seven Golds and a Best of Discipline at The One Show, and a Grand Prix at Cannes Lions 2026 for the London studio with The Ordinary and The Periodic Fable. Most recently, the London studio was named Creative Circle's Agency of the Year for a sixth time and British Arrows' Agency of the Year 2026, underscoring the exceptional calibre and consistency of its creative output as it approaches its ninth year of operation.
Will John, ECD, Uncommon said, “Uncommon has always stood out to me as a place that consistently produces some of the most exciting and influential work in the industry. I’m thrilled to be joining at such an exciting time for the studio, and I'm looking forward to building on that momentum.”
Nils Leonard, co-founder, Uncommon added, “We’ve been trying to get Will through the door for a while now, so we're delighted to have him here. He brings a rare mix of craft, ambition and leadership that helps those around him become better. We're continuing to attract world class talent to the studio, and to be able to add Will to our stellar line up of creative leaders is incredible - I can’t wait to see how he impacts this next chapter at Uncommon.”
