The PS260 editor talks to LBB about Yellowstone travels, the world’s greatest cat; Peach Ingbretson, and finally completing ‘ER’ as part of LBB’s Essential List series

Ashley Ingbretson is a Brooklyn-based editor hailing from the shores of Lake Michigan. Since starting her career at PS260, she’s worked with leading agencies and brands such as M&M’s, American Express, Puma, and Navy Federal Credit Union.

Her short films have been screened and awarded at international festivals, including Berlinale, SXSW, the San Diego Latino Film Festival, and the Tribeca Festival.

If she is not answering her emails, she is almost certainly stalking the woods in Prospect Park, photographing birds.

Below Ashley list off her daily essentials, Jeremy Allen White-inspired wardrobe, and why ‘The Fugitive’ is the perfect film.

Lifestyle

Place of birth: Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Hometown: Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Staycation: Brooklyn, New York

Vacation: Anywhere with more animals than people and no cell service. Most recently, Yellowstone. Next up, Acadia National Park

Pet: Peach Ingbretson, the world’s greatest cat

Place of work: PS260

Place of workout: You can typically find me running the Prospect Park loop every other day

Good Habit: SPF every day, even if I’m only going to be indoors!

Bad Habit: Retail therapy

Mode of transport: Train, as much as possible

Bonus travel essential: Sleeping mask. Getting eight hours of sleep is non-negotiable for me these days

Culture

Artist: Jan van Eyck

Musician: Cassandra Jenkins’ latest album has been on repeat in my home

Film director: Asif Kapadia

Author: I have been slowly making my way through every book by David Grann

Photographer: Cristina Goettsch Mittermeier, Paul Nicklen, Petra Collins, and all my very talented friends and acquaintances who call themselves hobby photographers but could easily be pros if they so wanted

Film: ‘The Fugitive’ directed by Andrew Davis is quite literally a perfect film

Series: I am currently well on my way to finishing all 15 seasons of ER. I am on season 10, where a helicopter has just crashed upon a main character

Commercial: Recently, a client told me about a series of branded short films starring Clive Owen that BMW did with eight different directors in the early 2000s, which strikes me as the coolest possible project in commercials this century

Music video: ‘True’ by Spandau Ballet will always be important to me, as it taught me the importance of a good saxophone solo

Video game: ‘Unpacking’, an indie game that follows a woman through each of the big moves in her life

Board game: Chess

Book: ‘In Cold Blood’ by Truman Capote

Graphic novel: ‘Batman: The Killing Joke’ by Alan Moore

Podcast: ‘Get Out Alive’ by Ashley Bray

Newspaper (off or online): New York Times

Magazine: The Atlantic

Obsession: ‘Couples Therapy’ on Showtime. May this love never find me

Food and Drink

Breakfast: Two eggs scrambled and an avocado. I’ll throw a little bacon in there if I’m feeling famished

Restaurant: You can find me at Ivan Ramen on the Lower East Side two to three times a month, regardless of whether or not it's soup season

Cheap bite: BEC Muffin

Working lunch: Shake Shack. Shroom Burger, Fries, a Vanilla Shake if I’m super famished

Snack: Little Debbie Swiss Rolls

Guilty pleasure: I enter some kind of fugue state when I am around fried chicken. I try to limit my exposure

Bar: Rialto Grande in Crown Heights, BK

Booze: Moscow Mule. I love my fruity drinks

Not booze: Cran-Grape

Bonus beverage: Instant coffee

Kit

Phone: iPhone

Computer: M1 Max Pro, 14-in

Headphones: My derelict Sony studio headphones

Camera: Fuji X-T30 II. I refuse to fall into the money pit that is film photography. I will let others keep that medium alive

Pen/pencil: The one within arm's reach

Where you document an idea: I have a small Muji notebook that looks like the scribblings of a serial killer, but is, in fact, my to-do list

Casual Clothing: I’ve decided to dress like Carmy in ‘The Bear’ from now on. Can’t go wrong with jeans and a white tee

Smart Clothing: You can never beat a black dress

Footwear: A penny loafer

Accessory: My grandmother’s engagement ring

Collection: I don’t own a single thing from this collection but if I could wear the Lemaire F/W 25 every day for the rest of my life, I think I’d be pretty set

Home comfort: In-Unit Laundry

App: Merlin Bird ID

Website: Bear Cam stays ON during work hours

Work program: Lightroom

Digital work tool: Premiere Pro

Analogue work tool: You need a box cutter, no matter what your job role is

Morning grooming/makeup essential: Concealer, to mask all of the late nights
