R&R Partners, an independent advertising agency, has appointed Mayumi Tatsuta as group creative director.
Mayumi Tatsuta joins R&R as group creative director with over 25 years of experience leading award-winning campaigns for Dove, Apple TV+, Google, Meta, Marriott, Pantene, and others. Before joining, she led creative at Michael B. Jordan’s ObsidianWorks and Jellyfish, shaping campaigns for Target, and Apple TV+, as well as pioneering AI-powered storytelling for L’Oréal, Google, and Japan Airlines.
Prior to that, she held creative leadership roles at Cashmere/Media.Monks, VaynerMedia, Grey, and mcgarrybowen, producing work for Reebok, Chase, Johnson & Johnson, and Procter & Gamble’s global beauty brands including Pantene, Covergirl, and Herbal Essences.
A New Yorker who got her first ad job in high school, Mayumi believes great ideas come from asking better questions and blending science, feeling, and a little creative chaos. She leads the way she was led, with mentorship at the heart.
“When I first started talking with Mayumi I was blown away by how much she believed in the greater purpose of what R&R believes,” said Chuck Monn, CCO of R&R partners. “To get to the underlying problem of a partner and follow that to its inevitable solution. She brings a level of creativity, strategy and mentorship that I believe will supercharge our healthcare group. The biggest thing we’ve been able to do in the last couple of years is to attract amazing, interesting and unique minds to join with the wild minds we already had here to create something unique in the industry.”
Outside the agency world, Mayumi is a food-obsessed traveller and storyteller who writes screenplays, produces horror short films, and is developing a podcast celebrating BIPOC creative voices.
