Pizza Hut Canada has boldly gone where no pizza brand has gone before: straight outta this world. Pizza Hut has turned its sights skyward and inviting a whole new audience to the table, even if that table is on another planet.
Why? Because the universe is buzzing about the recently spotted 3I/ATLAS comet, a rare interstellar visitor that’s trending across science and pop culture. So, Pizza Hut thought: why not make first contact with pizza?
Introducing UFOOH (UFO Out of Home), a cheeky billboard campaign aimed at the cosmos.). This is the first-ever billboard campaign pointed directly at the sky. These sky-facing boards feature headlines like:
'Eat pizza. Not people.'
'Take us to your eater.'
It’s a way of saying: 'aliens, if you’re hungry, we’ve got you covered.'
The UFOOH installation is live in Toronto’s Liberty Village, angled skyward for maximum extra-terrestrial visibility. And because Pizza Hut are serious about serving the galaxy, they even designed a space-ready pizza box to keep pies hot and fresh in zero gravity.
Oh, and if aliens actually make contact? They're giving away free pizza for Canadians with coupon code: FIRSTCONTACT.
“At Pizza Hut we’re always looking to grow our fanbase and this year, we figured why stop at Earth?” said Devon Lawrence, marketing director at Pizza Hut Canada. “With UFOOH, we’re literally shooting for the stars. Because whether you’re human, alien, or somewhere in between, everyone loves a hot slice.”
“Are there actually aliens up on 3I/ATLAS that see our ads? Maybe, maybe not. But this comet has become a cultural phenomenon for Pizza Hut to own, and a moment we can have fun with while continuing to build momentum,” added Kohl Forsberg, executive creative director at Leo.
With over 650 restaurants and 15 years of growth under our belt, Pizza Hut Canada is ready to serve Earth, and beyond. Because great pizza doesn’t just bring people together… it brings beings together. Whether you’re from Moncton or Mars, there’s always room at a Pizza Hut table for one more slice.
