Mother New York Encourages Fans to “Take A Knick Day" for the Championship Parade

To help diehard fans attend Thursday's historic championship parade, Mother New York has launched ‘Take A Knick Day’: a cheeky initiative giving New Yorkers a “medically approved” excuse to skip work, call in sick, and celebrate with the rest of the city.

Through the website, fans can generate a personalised medical certificate from a registered doctor, diagnosing them with a serious case of Knicks Fever, officially recommending they be excused from work duties for the duration of the parade.

The doctor’s note has been issued in response to what experts are calling the largest outbreak of Knicks-related euphoria seen in over 50 years.

"After decades of lying dormant, the symptoms have well and truly arrived," said Dr. Declan Fischback. "As Knicks Fever spreads across New York City, it's important residents take the necessary precautions. That includes stepping away from work responsibilities and attending Thursday's championship parade."

According to Dr Fischback, common symptoms of Knicks Fever include: excessive smiling at strangers, difficulty concentrating on non-basketball-related tasks, sudden urges to wear blue and orange, and a persistent belief that anything is possible.

While thousands of fans will line the parade route, millions more will spend Thursday behind desks, on construction sites, in meetings, or answering emails. Take A Knick Day was created to give those fans a playful way to be part of a once-in-a-generation moment.

"New Yorkers have waited more than half a century for this moment," said creatives Tremayne Gary and Sollin Saele. "If there was ever a legitimate reason to call in sick, this might be it."
