Eclectic Voices Share History of KOKO London for 125th Anniversary Film

First opening in 1901, KOKO has stood proudly at the forefront of London arts and culture and still today, remains fully independent. The venue across the last 125 years has seen take to its stage; Charlie Chaplin to Madonna, Prince to Amy Winehouse, Coldplay to the Rolling Stones.

To celebrate this significant 125th anniversary landmark, KOKO marks the start of its celebrations with an anniversary video ‘If These Walls Could Talk’, directed and concepted by up-and-coming London talent, Ned Botwood, with creative direction from KOKO founder Olly Bengough and produced by Somesuch.

The short film alludes to the characters’ experiences of the venue through an eerie chain monologue. Featuring a depiction of Ellen Terry, the actress du jour of the 1900s and an icon of aestheticism who first opened the venue in 1901, the film also portrays grime, indie, punk and garage fans through the eras.
