Harbor London has tapped Josh Barlow and Meg Binning to its VFX team, reflecting the studio’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-end commercial work. Previous additions to the VFX department this year include lead compositor Leah Ayinde and VFX supervisor Gus Riberio, bolstering the team’s creative and technical capabilities.
Josh Barlow joins Harbor as a 3D generalist, bringing a versatile background in 2D, 3D, and stop-motion animation. After studying Animation Production at the Arts University Bournemouth, Josh began his career at Outpost VFX before moving to London to join The Mill, contributing to a range of high-profile commercial projects.
Josh’s work spans advertising, episodic, and music videos, with recent highlights including Chick-fil-A’s “Rocky Road,” the playful IKEA 'Hare' spot, and the atmospheric Gorillaz 'Silent Running' music video. He has also helped craft memorable campaigns such as the Royal Marines’ 'Spider' and O2’s 'Follow the Rabbit,' bringing together strong animation sensibilities and a rigorous technical approach.
He has collaborated with leading London studios including The Mill, Electric Theatre Collective, nineteentwenty, Freefolk, Blinkink, Nexus, and Analog, and has partnered with directors such as Sam Pilling, Nicos Livesey, Sam Brown, Nicolai Fuglsig, Siqi Song, Conor Finnegan, Smith & Foulkes, and FX Goby. His animation roots underpin a creative approach that balances visual storytelling with technical precision.
Sid Harrington-Odedra, 3D supervisor, UK, said, “I'm absolutely delighted to have Josh join us as a CG Generalist. Ever since we worked together back at The Mill nearly ten years ago, Josh left a lasting impression as someone who could handle just about any task you throw his way—a generalist in the true sense of the word. We're looking forward to throwing some challenging tasks his way and helping him grow into a pillar of the team here at Harbor.”
Meg Binning joins Harbor as a VFX production assistant, bringing a strong storytelling background and end-to-end production experience. Originally from Dorset, she studied English at Plymouth University before moving to London to complete a Master’s in Screenwriting, giving her a holistic understanding of how ideas move from page to screen.
She began her career in PR as a writer before joining Framestore, where she worked across film and episodic and later in marketing and events, supporting industry events such as empower and the Immortal Awards, while deepening her knowledge of VFX. Moving into production, she supported major projects including a global campaign for Cartier, which was displayed in Piccadilly Circus; The Wheel of Time, which involved coordinating over 300 shots; and an immersive campaign for Epic Universe.
Her combined experience in story, pre-production, and post-production allows her to translate scripts, understand client briefs, and anticipate project needs. Known for her collaborative approach, Meg ensures teams are supported and well organised, enabling producers and artists to focus on delivering their best work.
Outside the studio, Meg is a Marvel devotee with the tattoos to prove it, a gamer who has completed every Fallout game, and has a special interest in music pre-1990. She also once won a seven-course meal by identifying songs from a single note (but was ultimately banned from the competition for being too good!)
These hires mark another step in Harbor London’s expansion, reinforcing the studio’s reputation for creative excellence and technical expertise in advertising VFX.
Kirsty Murray, head of production, VFX, added, “From our very first conversation, Meg's positive energy and passion were undeniable. I can't wait to see the impact she’ll bring to our team and to see her develop her production skills. We’re thrilled to have her with us.”
