In-Between, a short film created in partnership with Coldplay and Choose Love, has made its debut on YouTube The hybrid short, which explores how relationships are affected by migration, was filmed in Malta and Kenya by award-winning British Nigerian director Renee Maria Osubu, created alongside charities SPARK 15 and RAAH and produced by Somesuch.
Set to music from Coldplay’s 2024 album Moon Music, In-Between focuses on the story of Omar, a young refugee from Ethiopia, who is navigating life in Malta. Anchored by his East African community in Malta and phone calls across continents, he lives suspended between two worlds: the home he misses and the one he’s trying to make.
The 12-minute hybrid short was predominantly cast with immigrants and refugees. The production was supported by two refugee-focused organisations, SPARK 15 and RAAH.

Director, Renee Maria Osubu said, “The story we’ve told is one that resonates far beyond borders. It’s a story of people desperately fleeing their homelands in search of safety for their families, of mistreatment, isolation and rejection based on race or language, and, above all, of a love that transcends all boundaries. Proudly preserving culture through community and tradition.”
Proceeds from In-Between will go to Choose Love, whose mission is to address and provide support for the injustices and suffering taking place around the globe – including supporting both SPARK 15 and RAAH. The trailer for the film was first shown at last night’s 10 Years of Choose Love concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
