Advertising agency, Grey London, has appointed James Andrews as its new head of design. James will report directly into chief creative officer Helen Rhodes and oversee the design output across Grey London’s entire client portfolio.

As head of design, James will play a pivotal role in driving innovation and delivering exceptional work for clients. Beyond his creative expertise, he will be instrumental in strengthening a culture of creativity, collaboration and innovation within the agency. His leadership, in addition to the existing senior leadership team, is intended to attract top-tier talent and further elevate the agency’s creative reputation.

James brings extensive experience, with previous roles including head of design at Mr President and design director at ACNE London and Vayner Media. Across his career, James has worked with numerous high-profile clients including McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, B&Q, Dr Martens and adidas.

His work has been widely recognised, with campaigns for Revolut winning multiple Campaign Awards; McDonald’s honoured at the New York Festival with Gold for Outdoor and Silver for Use of Media; and Metro Bank work winning the Marketing Society Award for Best B2B Campaign.

James Andrews, head of design at Grey London said, “The thing that got me most excited about the job was the potential I saw in the role after meeting Helen and the rest of the leadership team. Their ambition and passion for pushing and bettering the creative output and seeing how design can play a huge role in that was very refreshing, and almost more importantly they are all genuinely good people. It's an exciting time to be jumping on board what feels like a turning point for an agency with such a strong legacy.”

Helen Rhodes, chief creative officer at Grey London added, “Finding someone to lead design into the future at Grey has been keeping me up at night. It’s one of the most important hires we will make because design is at the heart of everything we do. We’re on a mission to put beautiful things into the world that make people feel something. James does that in his sleep. A maker at his core, he’s an accomplished illustrator and self-taught designer who brings the same entrepreneurial energy to Grey that defines our ambitious creative ethos. We feel incredibly lucky to have found him.”
