Argos has launched a new brand campaign with T&P, starring its iconic mascots Connie and Trevor. They’re on a mission to let the country know Argos sells more than just toys, this time taking aim at homeowners who don’t think Argos is the perfect place to kit out their whole house.
The film, directed by Declan Lowney (‘Ted Lasso’, ‘Father Ted’), opens on pregnant Sandra and partner Darren in a sparsely furnished new home, who dismiss the idea of Argos as soon as it’s suggested. Cue Connie and Trevor—as Mafia bosses.
They take the couple on a little 'walk', as the duo quickly realise Sandra and Darren are going to need some serious help from their 'little friends'.
Playing on more Italian American clichés than The Sopranos, Connie and Trevor are loving their new role—so much so that they can’t help getting lost in the moment.
Laura Boothby, head of brand comms at Argos, said, “Connie and Trevor have become beloved icons for Argos, and this time we wanted to bring them back with a comedic, unexpected twist. Moving into a new home can be overwhelming, but we wanted to show—in true mafia-boss style—that Argos is the ultimate one-stop shop for everything you need to kit out your home”.
Matt Deacon and Ben Fallows, creative directors at T&P, said, “What’s great about letting people know Argos sell more than toys is that Connie and Trevor can be both Al Pacino and Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen in the same film. VO sessions are a lot of fun.”
Merman’s Declan Lowney said, “Taking two iconic characters like Connie and Trevor and dropping them straight into a mafia style drama was a lot of fun. Blending high-stakes cinematic tension with the everyday reality of moving into a new home we all know too well.”
The ‘There’s More to Argos’ platform, launched in 2023, continues to drive brand reappraisal by using doll Connie and dinosaur Trevor to highlight the retailer's broad range of quality, premium products. Building on its position as one of the UK’s most cherished brands, this latest campaign aims to decisively shift perceptions about the surprising array of items available at Argos.
