Directing duo Chris Barrett and Luke Taylor (previously known as Us) have teamed up with The Rolling Stones again to drop the striking new visual for the band’s latest track, 'Jealous Lover'. It's the duo’s second time stepping up for the rock legends, following their massive Paul Mescal fronted video for 'Scarlet'.
Ditching the standard performance video format, the film goes heavy on the narrative. It spins the track's cheeky, pointed lyrics (basically a warning to a partner who asks too many questions) into a tense and beautifully stylised on screen vibe.
Already known for their boundary pushing visuals with heavyweights like Radiohead, Hozier, Harry Styles and Jack White, Chris & Luke tapped Anya Taylor-Joy and Charles Melton for a moody neo noir experience that perfectly hits the soulful, rhythm and blues energy of 'Jealous Lover'. The chemistry between the two leads is unreal, completely transforming a four minute promo into a gripping short film.
Reflecting on the project, the directing duo shared, “Working with a band as foundational and iconic as The Rolling Stones is an absolute dream for any filmmaker. Our goal was to create a visual world that felt as timeless and effortlessly cool as the track itself. Anya and Charles fully committed to the vision, bringing a magnetic tension to the screen that elevates the entire narrative. We couldn't be prouder of the result.”
