Active Theory has named Louis Ansa as executive creative director, reinforcing the studio’s commitment to world-class digital craft and strategic creative leadership. The announcement follows the company’s recognition as one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies, marking a new chapter in its evolution.
Based in France, Ansa brings more than twelve years of multidisciplinary experience across motion design, art direction, interface animation, branding, storytelling and interactive craft. His work spans entertainment, tech and global brands, with collaborations that include Disney, A24, Netflix and a broad range of forward-thinking digital companies. He has held key creative roles at Mojo, makemepulse, Watson Design Group, Monks and TBWA - experiences that shaped a distinctive style defined by precision, emotion and technological fluency.
Ansa is widely recognised within the digital community, having spoken at Awwwards Conferences, led Awwwards Masterclasses in interface animation, and taken the stage at Cannes Lions. His creative output has earned multiple honours, including SOTY, SOTM and more than a dozen SOTD wins.
“Louis is the kind of creative leader who expands the possibilities of what digital craft can be,”says Nick Mountford, CEO of Active Theory.“He blends strategic clarity with hands-on excellence. As we move into our next chapter, Louis will help sharpen our creative voice and push our work into even more impactful territory.”
In his new role, Ansa will guide the studio’s global creative vision, merging high-level strategic thinking with a maker’s intuition. His leadership philosophy centers on sustainable team growth, collaboration and a deep connection to craft - ensuring that every project achieves both creative ambition and meaningful impact.
“I’ve always loved Active Theory’s craft excellence,” says Ansa. “What excites me now is pushing that even further. This is a moment where technology, storytelling and design can work together with real intention. We’re evolving from complexity for its own sake to purposeful creative solutions that serve emotion, narrative and business goals.”
Ansa’s appointment arrives as Active Theory continues expanding its influence in digital experience design, interactive storytelling and branded worlds. The studio has long been known for blending technical mastery with aesthetic precision, and with Ansa joining the leadership team, it aims to set an even higher bar for innovation and digitally driven creativity.
“We’re showing that businesses don’t have to choose between craft and impact,” Ansa adds. “Thoughtful storytelling, strong design and smart technology can deliver experiences that build real partnerships. That’s where we’re heading - redefining excellence in our space.”
