Pau Carreté of CANADA directs 'What Happened to the Streets' trailer for 21 Savage

Director Pau Carreté has delivered a dark, suspenseful trailer for 21 Savage's highly anticipated new album, ‘What Happened to the Streets’, produced by CANADA.

The project marks the official return of the Atlanta heavyweight to solo form following his 2024 ‘American Dream’ era. Pau, a director known for bridging the gap between high-art and gritty street culture, crafts a black-and-white visual piece that serves as a visceral prelude to the project. The trailer shared by the Epic Records artist as a triptych moves with a nostalgic energy, featuring a montage that includes a figure targeted by gunmen in a dark alley.

Stylised as 'WHTTS?', the film was produced by Anna Barcadit and executive-produced by Diana C. Milesi. With cinematography by DOP Carles F. Gali and editing by Aitor Bigas, art director Maria Carreté transforms the streets of Barcelona into noir-inspired Atlanta alleys.

Ferran Avila led the AI development in collaboration with CANADA’s Álvaro Posadas, integrating cutting-edge visual tools to enhance the film’s atmospheric textures.
Pau's recent accolades include international selections at Animayo, The One Show, and 1.4 for his work on Tainy’s ‘Colmillo’. His ability to command global cultural moments is also on display in his 2025 film announcing 'Travis Scott x FCBarcelona' collaboration led by Spotify, as well as the gritty, kinetic music video for Peso Pluma and Rich The Kid’s 'Gimme a Second'.
