We are The Department
A London-based brand experience agency specialising in live, real-world events and experiential marketing. Founded in 2013, we pioneered immersive storytelling for brands and have delivered campaigns for FIFA, BMW, MINI, Spotify, and more.

We specialise in automotive events and have worked with BMW, MINI, Lexus, Toyota, Cupra, and Williams F1. Our activations include launches, brand houses, trackside experiences, and cultural collaborations.

SPORTS & RIGHTS HOLDERS
We partner with FIFA, UEFA, NBA, and The FA to deliver sports fan experiences, brand houses, sponsor activations, and VIP hospitality. We are trusted to create large-scale live experiences for global tournaments and leagues.

Awarded Gold - The Drum Content Awards (Best Automotive Content Marketing Strategy)

Our work with Toyota, "The Night that Flows", was awarded gold in Best Automotive Content Marketing Strategy - Campaign at The Drum Content Awards.

This winning campaign showcased The Department’s ability to fuse insight, creativity, and innovation — delivering standout automotive storytelling that connected with audiences and set a new benchmark for content-led brand experiences.


Runner-up -Campaign Experience Awards 

"The Night that Flows" launched Toyota’s C-HR with the world’s first drive-through immersive theatre at London’s Printworks—seven interactive scenes starring Milla Jovovich—covered by Toyota’s newsroom and Campaign/LBB.


Runner-up - Campaign Experience Awards (Exhibition Experience category)

Our immersive museum experience, "Breitling Then & Now Pop-Up Museum", was nominated as runner-up in the Exhibition Experience category at the Campaign Experience Awards.

This immersive experience, launched in Zurich in August 2024, celebrated Breitling's 140th anniversary by showcasing the brand's history. 


Shortlisted for the Campaign Event Awards and Eurobest

Our multi-sensory art installation, "Run The Tube", for ASIC’s #IMoveLondon campaign, was shortlisted for the Campaign Event Awards and Eurobest.

This installation was a stimulating activation that encouraged Londoners to switch up their commute. Originally designed as a Burning Man artwork by Rob Jenson and Warren Trezevant, the light patterns were programmed to sync with dawn and dusk soundtracks specially composed by Desmond Lambert.

When the UK Government’s Innovate UK awarded The Department the prestigious Creative Catalyst Grant, it wasn’t simply recognition for great event-making — it was a powerful endorsement of our vision, technical ambition, and commitment to advancing the creative industries.

The Creative Catalyst programme, part of UK Research & Innovation (UKRI), supports pioneering creative companies that merge storytelling, technology, and commercial innovation. Its purpose is to help small, high-growth studios turn groundbreaking ideas into scalable creative technologies.

For us, this recognition validates what we’ve always believed: that immersive experiences are far more than events. Whether through VR and AR, real-time digital worlds, interactive fan museums, or multi-sensory brand activations, they are a new form of creative technology shaping the future of entertainment, sport, and cultural storytelling.
