Independent creative agency Unbound has created ‘Rewrite the Future’, a national, fully integrated campaign for education charity Teach First, fronted and voiced by BAFTA-winning artist and mentor Big Zuu.

More than 4.5 million children in the UK grow up in poverty, with their life chances too often determined by their postcode. Their story is written for them before they’ve even started.

‘Rewrite the Future’ takes aim at this injustice, positioning teaching not just as a career, but as a way to change lives - and the system - from the inside.

At the heart of the campaign is a hero film, shot in a real UK school and directed by Chris Faith and Troy Roscoe. Big Zuu narrates a series of pivotal classroom moments where a teacher’s belief shifts a pupil’s trajectory - from being written off by the system to being written into their own future.

Known for representing multi-cultural Britain and his work with young people facing disadvantage, Zuu gives voice to pupils who are too often overlooked. His original script and performance bring a lived reality to the work, making the call to action urgent and personal rather than abstract.

The campaign launches against a stark backdrop: disadvantaged pupils are leaving school almost three grades behind their peers. One in three is at risk of not reaching their full educational potential. The system is writing them off. ‘Rewrite the Future’ is Teach First’s answer - a rallying cry to graduates, young professionals and career changers to help close the gap from the front of the classroom.

Created and produced by Unbound, the campaign is designed as a recruitment engine and a new brand platform. It reframes teaching as leadership with impact - a fast-track route to responsibility, influence and change. The work seeks to move Teach First beyond functional messaging and into a bolder, more culturally resonant space.

Charlotte Zamboni, Executive Director, Ambassadors & Audiencesat Teach First said:

“We've worked with Unbound to refresh the Teach First brand and sharpen its focus on improving education for children facing disadvantage. We have built the brand platform on our rallying cry to “Rewrite the future”, which expresses our defiant belief that young people’s futures can be transformed through collective action. We're inspiring a movement of ambitious Change Makers and Change Partners to tackle the pressures schools face and the need for systemic change. Our refreshed brand brings a more vibrant and empowering tone, with new imagery and a blue pen as our shared symbol of commitment. We’re also thrilled to have collaborated with Big Zuu on a powerful rap video, based on his own lyrics, which brings our mission to life.”

Elspeth Lynn, Co-Founder and Creative Partner at Unbound, said:

“ ‘Rewrite the Future’ is a line, but it’s also an invitation for the opportunity. Either we accept a system that quietly writes off millions of children, or we do something about it. Teach First teachers don’t just stand at the front of a classroom and teach math for 30 years - they stand up for what’s possible. And invite them to put their ambition to work where it matters most.”

Alongside the hero film, Unbound, has created a suite of conversion-driving digital assets that push beyond conventional charity and recruitment tropes.

Unbound has also redone the wider brand identity based on this new platform idea. Short-form social edits and cutdowns speak directly to final-year students, graduates and early-career professionals across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and other platforms. In each, we see the impact of a teacher’s intervention, paired with clear messaging on the purpose, support and accelerated development offered by Teach First.

Out-of-home and digital placements use bold, disruptive copy like ‘Never be bored at work again’ to challenge the notion that teaching is similar year in year out.

The line ‘Rewrite the Future’ is being adopted across Teach First’s wider brand communications, creating a platform that can stretch from recruitment to policy and public engagement. Built for flexibility, the system works in film, TV, social, digital and OOH, as well as owned Teach First channels.

Because whether you’re just starting out or looking for more meaning in your career, the future isn’t fixed. It’s still being written - and you can help rewrite it.
