At the height of the pandemic, we reunited with longtime collaborators Eli and Charlie of Soul Clap to bring the first single from their concept album WTF (World Transformational Force) to life. Set in a world ravaged by climate collapse, Back 2 Love explores a simple but urgent idea: even in catastrophe, art and human connection can pull us toward something better.
Working within tight pandemic-era constraints, we leaned into mood, movement, and location to build a post-apocalyptic world without ever constructing one. Shot entirely in Mexico City against stark brutalist architecture and within an expansive furniture factory, the environment became our hellscape- raw, minimal, and haunting.
The film centers on two dancers, performed by Ana Elisa Mena (Prima Ballerina of the National Mexican Dance Company) and Roberto Rodríguez, who journey toward one another through an empty, ash-covered world. Encumbered by gas masks and coveralls, their movement evolves from grounded and restrained to open and uplifted, mirroring the track’s emotional arc and the album’s core thesis: transformation through love and creativity.
With no dialogue and minimal artifice, Back 2 Love aims for pure emotional storytelling: two bodies, one space, and the quiet power of human connection finding its way back to the surface.
