Independent agency Sunday Gravy has created a TVC advertising itself featuring Aussies in a pub, with one woman declaring she "can't be bothered by ads".
The ad opens with something rarely said out loud in advertising: people don’t like ads. It is set in a bar and occurs while a game of pool is being played. Real people speak plainly about their dislike for the category. The twist comes at the end, when they admit there’s one exception: anything made by Sunday Gravy.
The independent agency ran its own TV ad across the Seven Network during Christmas programming and the Boxing Day Test, some of the most watched moments on the holiday calendar.
Sunday Gravy has worked with brands such as DiDi and Coopers, and added Taubman's Paint to its roster early last year.
Sarah Raine, newly-appointed managing director at Sunday Gravy, said, “We spend most of our time helping brands earn attention.
“This was just us applying the same thinking to ourselves, and a reminder that advertising works best when it understands how people actually feel about it.”
