On January 9th, Tassal hosted an exclusive sunset party at Surfers Paradise, for high profile talent, reality TV alumni, and local community groups. It was hosted with the help of agency partners Communicado and Havas Host.
With signature cocktails, a delicious Tassal seafood menu, live entertainment, and a prawn peeling contest, guests partied the night on, bringing to life Tassal’s vision to celebrate Seafood Summer in a way that was quintessentially Gold Coast.
The night saw Tommy Armour (aka Egg Man) pull out his iconic egg-eating move, while Eliot Donovan and Kale Roberts kicked back in a ball pit. Kate Elise, Riley Rodgers-Falk, Lee Carseldine, and a stack of familiar faces were also spotted enjoying the night.
Tassal’s iconic ‘Seafood Smugglers’ were also in attendance, tearing up the dance floor to show off the custom Tassal x Budgy Smuggler apparel.
Local run groups also joined in on the fun, swapping out the sneakers for slip-ons as they headed poolside. Leading dietitian and Tassal ambassador, Susie Burrell was the official MC for the night, bringing the event to life.
Susie said, "It’s been great to bring 'Seafood Summer' to the Gold Coast and share that energy with so many people over good food.
“I love the great Australian summer. It brings people together, meals get simpler, tables get longer, and food becomes more about enjoyment than rules. From a nutrition perspective, seafood makes sense; it’s quick to prepare, rich in omega-3s, and provides nutrients many Australians don’t get enough of,” she added.
An extension of the December 1st launch event in Bondi, the QT Hotel Surfers Paradise event was a chance to bring 'Seafood Summer' to the Gold Coast in a way that was authentic to local patrons -- poolside at sunset!
Phil Pickering, head of strategy, Havas Host, said, “This is what happens when a summer idea is treated as a cultural moment, not a media buy. The work was designed to earn attention by showing up where summer is actually being lived, and we certainly did just that.”
Fiona Mullen, head of PR and integration at Communicado, said, "The Gold Coast is peak summer Australia: high tourism, major events on the calendar, and strong media appetite for beachside lifestyle storytelling and content.
"This event was designed to capitalise on that moment, building on the energy of the Sydney launch while translating it into a more intimate, high impact pop-up that felt native to the Gold Coast lifestyle.”
