Bankwest Marketer Jodene Murphy Leaves After 3 Years

Bankwest GM of customer, marketing, and communications Jodene Murphy has left the business after three years to return to New Zealand.

On LinkedIn, she wrote it was an “honour” to help transform Bankwest.

“It is so hard to believe it's been three years already, but it is time to move the family back to NZ where I know we can expect milder temperatures and frizzier hair.”

Before her stint at Bankwest, based in Perth, she was general manager of Think TV NZ, and held senior marketing roles at Bank of New Zealand and local telco Spark. She has also worked at .99, Vodafone, SKYCITY, and Westpac.

At Bankwest, she worked on the launch of brand platform ‘Just Enough Bank’, which was indie Bear Meets Eagle on Fire’s first work for the business since LBB revealed in October last year that the agency had won the account.

At the time, Jodene said BMEOF’s appointment reflected the business’s goal of being "Australia's favourite digital bank".

Prior to that, Bankwest’s account was run by a bespoke model led by WPP and essenceMediacom, called Union. WPP’s Perth-based The Brand Agency still works on Bankwest.

‘Just Enough Bank’ won silver in the 46th AWARD awards in the integrated category, and is one of nine AUNZ finalists in LBB’s Immortal Awards.

The work featured three dry-humoured films directed by Steve Ayson from 3&7, and a design system shown off across a series of OOH executions that demonstrated the percentage breakdowns of hobbies people spend their time on when they aren’t dealing with banks.
