VML Canada has launched a podcast for people who geek out on big ideas and the tech that helps bring them to life. It’s called 'Why Didn’t I Think of That?' - a series about human-first innovation in advertising, told through transparent, down-to-earth conversations.
At its core, the show is about making sense of all the shiny new tech without losing sight of what really matters: Humans.
“Technology is not the destination; it’s the train ride to the destination,” said Tim Voet, CTO at VML Canada. “It should be comfortable, frictionless, and enhance the customer’s journey.”
Each episode runs a tight 20–30 minutes, built for commutes, coffee breaks, or those in-between moments between meetings. No hour-long jargon marathons - just sharp, curious conversations about what’s happening now and what’s coming next.
“Every episode is a chance to unpack those brilliant campaigns and ideas that make you think, damn, I wish I’d done that,” said Jeremy Lenz, creative director. “The goal is to spark something that pushes us all a bit further.”
The podcast digs into how technology and creativity actually work together on real briefs in the real world - from AI and automation to new platforms, tools, and behaviours.
“Innovation isn’t about chasing the shiniest new object; it’s about applying it with purpose,” added Rick Brown, creative director. “We’re looking at how technology becomes a paintbrush, not just a canvas - amplifying human creativity to solve problems in simple, surprisingly beautiful ways.”
The first two episodes of 'Why Didn’t I Think of That?' are now live on most podcast platforms, with new episodes dropping monthly. Each one brings together a rotating crew of creatives, technologists and makers from across the industry.
“If you’ve ever wanted to be a fly on the wall while creatives geek out about innovation and technology - without the buzzword bingo - this is the pod for you,” said Graham Lang, chief creative officer, VML Canada.
