Rally drivers crash, A conductor gets waylaid mid aria and a world championship dreams crumble due to that mother of all tedious tasks, bookkeeping - in a new campaign from Swedish fintech company Spiris.
Created by Åkestam Holst, produced by Immigrant and directed by Torben Kjelstrup, the campaign tells us not to let bookkeeping get in the way of your business.
A short and concise premise that may well have played out in a doldrums of an office or some other small business stand-in, but has a little more fun with it - juxtaposing the drudge of paperwork with scenarios in which it is wholly out of place to convey just how how annoying and intrusive bookkeeping can be if done the old fashioned way. For example in the middle of a rally race, where a navigator suddenly finds himself sorting through receipts and trying to figure out discrepancies in his accounts.
As his driver says, after a near death collision 'you should have used Spiris, it’s much smarter' - happily summing up the central concept of the campaign.
The campaign marks a bold and playful rebrand for the digital bookkeeping provider, who wanted to shake the bag.
This is the third time in a year that director Torben Kjelstrup, Immigrant and Åkestam Holst are in cahoots, with previous outings for Telia and Ikea.
“Truth be told I love working with Åkestam Holst - And at this point I’ve developed an impulse to drop whatever I’m doing when they come knocking - because I know the creative is going to be great and they’re a joy to work with. But mostly because they dare to keep things simple and trust that the humour will land if you just give it time to unfold. A slow build up and release. The fact that we got to play around with rally cars and opera houses this time round is, of course, a merry bonus.” said Torben Kjelstrup.
Certainly the films rejoice in in what some might call a throw back style of comedic spots of old.
It’s a deceptively simple yet comedically punchy style that is starting to become somewhat of a trademark for Torben.
