Petro-Canada Sends Holiday Carollers to Shame Dirty Cars

'We saw your car and gasped out loud, it's basically a big dirt cloud. Tis' the season to clean your filthy car,' says Petro-Canada door-to-door carollers.

The holidays are a time for joy. Unless you’re a car. So, in McCann Canada’s latest campaign for client Petro-Canada, a Suncor business, we sent real carollers, to real people's homes, to wish them a merry carwash.

When homeowners answered their doors, instead of being greeted by a traditional holiday anthem, they were surprised by a festive song about how dirty their cars are and gifted an unexpected but perfectly practical holiday gift: a Petro-Canada Wash and Go Carwash card.

Featuring members of the Suncor employee choir as the team of holiday carollers seen in the spot, the group travelled through Calgary neighbourhoods scoping out cars in need and surprising residents with a merry reminder to visit a carwash.

Because while this season comes with plenty of magic, it also comes with plenty of salt, slush and snow in different shades of brown. And all these things add up to make the Petro-Canada Wash & Go Card the perfect holiday gift for drivers.

The campaign is supported by online video, social video, radio, and in-store design materials and runs November 17 to December 30. While retail-focused online video has been running all December, the carollers stunt was timed to encourage any last-second gift givers to consider a Petro-Canada Wash and Go Carwash Card. Special 'Merry Car Wash' themed holiday cards are available in-store to give alongside the Wash & Go Carwash Cards.
