Director-photographer duo PEDEN+MUNK, Jen Munkvold and Taylor Peden, represented by Laird and Good Company, share their latest campaign work for Starbucks, PSL and Drawn This Way, continuing a long-standing creative partnership with the global brand. As new holiday imagery rolls out nationwide, the duo reflect on the clarity and collaboration that defined this season’s approach.
Earlier this year, Starbucks partnered with PEDEN+MUNK to shoot the key visual of the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Produced by Laird and Good Company, the team was tasked with creating hero imagery that could function at every scale, from packaging and in-store to out-of-home nationwide. Laird and Good Company partnered closely with the duo throughout pre-production, lighting design, and post, ensuring a seamless workflow between creative and production.
For the Drawn This Way holiday campaign, PEDEN+MUNK collaborated with artist Geoff McFetridge, pairing their clean, sculpted product photography with Geoff McFetridge’s living illustration.
“We photographed the holiday drinks like icons, clear silhouette, honest texture, short grounded shadows, then left deliberate breathing room so the artwork could embrace the cup,” Jen Munkvold explains. “Clear edges and consistent shadows meant his illustrations could wrap, nod, and celebrate, without fighting the read of the cup. We aligned with Geoff in pre-pro on silhouette and whip, photography as anchor, illustration as embrace.”
Through multiple campaigns this year, PEDEN+MUNK continues to help evolve Starbucks’ seasonal visual identity, pairing strong creative direction with the spirit of the holiday season.
