Westside has expanded its relationship with Maya Fuhr, adding the photographer to its directing roster.
“Working with Westside is a match made in heaven,” Maya said. “They treat their artists like family, and that experience transcends onto set. I’m excited to work with talented crews and connect with audiences by creating fresh, meaningful, playful, storytelling. I’m ready to unleash creativity in motion and bring any campaign to life by fully immersing myself in the magic of each brand’s cultural relevance, impact, and genuine voice in the world. I love bringing a vision to life from start to finish while having fun every step of the way.”
Maya’s past directing work includes campaigns for COACH Denim, and COACH X DISNEY; the SEEKING women-focused dating site; a commercial for health-care brand KYLEENA, along with brands such as Sephora, Miss Vickies, and Canada Goose. While at Westside, she’s done photography for clients VitaFusion, McDonalds, and Pepsi, among others, creating work across mediums that’s known for being playful and bright, with authentic visuals and diverse perspectives.
A visual artist as well, Maya’s multi-media practice is internationally recognised and compliments her commercial work through her mixed-media storytelling, an approach she uses in every project she takes on. As someone who loves to push boundaries and create conversations, she’s not afraid to explore unconventional framing and documentary-style techniques that put the viewer inside the world and make them feel like part of the story, something Westside’s executive producer Jonathan Lajoie noticed right away.
“Maya is a rare talent who seamlessly bridges photography and motion with a distinct point of view. Her work feels culturally informed, emotionally resonant, and visually playful, exactly the kind of energy we look to champion at Westside,” Jonathan said. “She brings a strong aesthetic sensibility, a fearless approach to storytelling, and a genuine curiosity for people and culture. We’re excited to welcome Maya to the roster and can’t wait to see how her distinctive style elevates the work we create with our clients.”
Maya Fuhr is excited to contribute to the vibrant culture of Toronto and collaborate with new teams in a way that unleashes people’s creativity, connecting with talent, agencies, and audiences alike.
