Matt Gooden Departs Who Wot Why After Decade of Rule-Breaking Creativity

​Who Wot Why has revealed the departure of co-founder Matt Gooden.

Matt has been with Who Wot Why since it was established in early 2016. He has made some great work in his time with the company, and his charismatic rule- breaking creativity is known throughout the industry.

Every 10 years, Matt likes to move on and try new things. He did the same at Wieden+Kennedy 10 years before. He is no different now. Matt leaves behind a supremely talented team, who are raring to go.

Creative co-founder Sean Thompson takes charge of the full-service creative and production company, with exciting plans for further expanding its offering in the new year. The company continues to build effective long-term platforms for brands such as William Hill, Prime Video, Ella’s Kitchen, Pip & Nut and Tofoo. Its founding principle is to be a truly creatively led straight-talking business, and that’s very much at its heart.

Matt Gooden stated, “It’s been a blast but every 10 years I get itchy feet. For me, curiosity fuels my creativity. So, I’m off to feed that and go and make some new, exciting mistakes. We’ve had some fun times at WWW and I’m proud of the work we’ve made. To all the staff, clients and production partners I’ve worked with over these 10 years, that made this work possible, I’d like to say a huge, huge thank you.”

Sean Thompson stated, “Matt is his own man, and he does things his own way. In moving on, he is no different. His desire to shake things up every 10 years is something we support. We will miss him, and we wish him all the best and every success in the coming months and years. Who Wot Why now drives forwards without him. All we can say is watch this space on both counts.”
