BBH has appointed Marcos Gemal as its new executive creative director for BBH Dublin, as part of its mission to be the most creatively renowned agency in the city.
Marcos joined BBH from Jung von Matt London on 15th January and reports to Felipe Serradourada Guimaraes, ECD at BBH London.
In his new role, he will be responsible for setting out and modelling the highest creative standards across all creative output and driving innovative, culturally relevant work that builds brands. He will be taking on some of the agency’s key client partnerships, working with brands such as Tesco Ireland.
As one of the founders of JvM London, Marcos helped take the agency from a pub table to an office in Shoreditch with 20 staff, winning the global MINI account and Wayfair along the way.
After beginning his career as a graphic designer, he moved into production and later into advertising. Before launching JvM London, Marcos did stints as a freelance creative director at Droga5 and Wieden+Kennedy London. Prior to that he was a senior creative at Mother for six years, working with clients such as Stella Artois, IKEA and KFC, and he has also held roles at agencies including Ogilvy Singapore and DDB.
Marcos' work has won a plethora of awards, including at Cannes Lions, and D&AD.
Marcos Gemal said, “Really excited to step into this role at BBH, and even more so to do it from Dublin. Looking forward to the journey ahead with the team, and making work we’re proud of.”
The hire forms part of the agency's ambitious plans for BBH Dublin, which was recently crowned Agency of the Year at the Shark Awards.
BBH London ECD, Felipe Serradourada Guimaraes, commented, “They say you should surround yourself with people that are better than you, Marcos definitely is that. Talented, experienced and to top it off, absolutely lovely. BBH Dublin, watch this space.”
