Magic Johnson and Cigna Healthcare Tap into Science of Sound for 'Magic Sounds' Album

First-of-its-kind collaboration album from MRM uses the science of sound to make mental health support habitual, human, and part of everyday life

Global relationship marketing agency MRM has partnered with Cigna Healthcare and Earvin 'Magic' Johnson to release a first-of-its-kind collaboration album called Magic Sounds, which aims to make preventive mental-health care accessible, engaging, and culturally resonant.

Now streaming across major platforms, the six-track Magic Sounds album leverages clinical insights, binaural frequencies, and immersive spatial audio to promote focus, relaxation, and restorative rest. Rooted in Cigna Healthcare’s Better by Design platform, the initiative takes the science of sound into a simple, repeatable customer experience, one of MRM’s core capabilities. Tracks include focus-building beats, stress-relieving ASMR, sleep-supporting soundscapes, and beyond.

“Music has always been a source of motivation and healing for me, both on and off the court,” said Magic Johnson. “I’m proud to partner with Cigna Healthcare to bring Magic Sounds to life and help people find new ways to care for their mental and emotional health.”

“Our hope is that this album helps people develop better mental-health habits and routines, with the ultimate goal of preventing everyday struggles from becoming bigger clinical problems,” said Dr. Stuart Lustig, national medical executive for behavioural health at Evernorth Health Services.

Studies from Johns Hopkins University and the American Psychiatric Association indicate that listening to music or soothing sounds can significantly reduce symptoms of stress and anxiety, especially in workplace settings. Music therapy has also been shown to help with anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, and even substance use cravings. Techniques like binaural beats and ASMR have demonstrated benefits for relaxation, focus, and sleep quality.

The creative concept and direction for the Magic Sounds album was developed by MRM creative directors Jesse Langer and Andres Maldonado, in collaboration with Yessian Music and McCann New York. The album will be available starting November 14 across major streaming providers, and offered free of charge to anyone seeking proactive, accessible ways to support mental health.
