Publicis Conseil’s 'LOVER5' film explores the magnetic appeal of the modern reinterpretation of a 1970s icon

Since its global unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show in February 2024, the Renault 5 E-Tech electric has established itself as a significant electric mobility offering in Europe. With a modern and sustainable reinterpretation of the 1970s pop icon, this model has captured attention with its design, intuitive driving experience, and innovative technologies, including bidirectional charging.

Launched at the end of 2024, the Renault 5 E-Tech electric has achieved remarkable commercial success, positioning itself by 2025 as the best-selling electric car in its segment in Europe. It has already registered over 100,000 vehicles.

To celebrate this success, Renault and Publicis Conseil created a film highlighting the frenzy surrounding the R5 since its launch.

The idea stemmed from the observation that today, every choice is divisive: every product has its fans and its haters, and achieving unanimity has become almost impossible.

Yet, the Renault 5 E-Tech electric manages the feat of democratizing electric vehicles and making it a 'popular' car in the noble sense of the term, in a complex context.

In the film 'LOVER5,' director Nico Perez Veiga, in collaboration with the production company Iconoclast, captures the unique power of attraction of the Renault 5. An entire city is drawn to the car. Men and women seem magnetized, irresistibly attracted to this model. They interrupt their daily activities to approach it. Everyone feels an overwhelming urge to embrace it.

Through careful and expressive staging, the film adopts a tone that is at once elegant, grandiose and resolutely epic, highlighting the unique emotional link that unites R5 E-Tech electric with its audience.

“ I immediately embraced the idea proposed by the agency: this frenzy surrounding a Renault 5 E-Tech electric car that attracts crowds, that draws people in – that’s exactly it! Every day on the street, we see the real power of attraction it exerts. This epic race of an entire crowd running towards the car gives rise to a memorable film!” commented Arnaud Belloni, global chief marketing officer, Renault.

The film's musical choice, 'Give Me Love' by Cerrone, accentuates the hypnotic and sensual character of the work, while also giving it great elegance.
