Christof Deutscher will take over Hyundai Europe’s creative leadership, bringing his expertise at the intersection between creativity, technology, and automotive branding

INNOCEAN announces the appointment of Christof Deutscher to further elevate the agency’s creative leadership. Christof joins a team that has consistently climbed the German rankings - with 77 awards won in 2025 to date – and is poised to further enrich it with his extensive automotive expertise and proven track record in brand innovation.

His appointment underscores INNOCEAN’s commitment to delivering innovative and impactful work for its clients. “We’re delighted to bring Christof into our team. His creativity, automotive background, and tech-driven mindset align beautifully with Hyundai’s vision for what’s next.”, said Susanne Plümecke, European COO.

Christof, 45, spent the past three and a half years at Monks, where he led creative work for BMW and played a pivotal role in establishing the Berlin office. Under his leadership, international campaigns were developed within the TME (The Marcom Engine) model, setting new benchmarks for creative excellence.

Prior to that, Christof was responsible for creative work for major automotive brands including MINI, Volkswagen, Mercedes, and most recently BMW. This broad automotive background equips him with deep industry knowledge and strategic insight, which he now brings to INNOCEAN.

At INNOCEAN, Christof will assume overall creative responsibility for the Hyundai Europe account, working alongside Gabriel Mattar and Susanne Plümecke. His mandate includes advancing the brand in Europe.

Christof said about his move, “I’m thrilled to be part of this outstanding agency and to contribute to such a great brand. Gabriel and his team have created something truly special here – with consistently high quality and an excellent company culture.

Gabriel Mattar, European CCO, added, “Chris gets what we mean when we say Glory Over Pain. He knows great automotive work doesn’t come from comfort, it comes from the friction that forces better ideas. He has lived that truth on some of the toughest brands in the category, and that is exactly the kind of energy we want shaping Hyundai’s next chapter. He is not afraid to push, to feel, to fight for the work, and that is the only way to get to the glory.”
