Speaking with co-founder Marni Luftspring, LBB’s April Summers gets the inside scoop on the coming together of the Canadian and UK production houses

Toronto-based production company Feels Like Home has announced a new affiliate partnership with London’s You Are Here, a move designed to deepen creative exchange between the Canadian and UK markets and broaden opportunities for both companies’ directors.

The collaboration began organically earlier this year when Feels Like Home co-founder Marni Luftspring reached out to You Are Here managing director Jeremy Goold after spotting a number of directors on the UK roster whose work she admired. “When I started looking to expand my roster, I instantly gravitated toward Jeremy’s directors—their tone, creativity, and originality really stood out,” she says. “I felt excited about the possibility of bringing that kind of talent into the Canadian market. Jeremy and I clicked right from the start, and after some great chats, I’m hopeful this relationship will bloom in time.”

From those early conversations grew a partnership rooted in shared values. Both companies champion a “humans first, then creativity” ethos, placing talent support, long-term development, and craft at the centre of their work. “We support our talent in very similar ways, so it “feels like you are at home,” says Marni. "It’s a mix of similar philosophies coming together.”

A Curated Cross-Market Exchange

Rather than a blanket roster overlap, the affiliate deal focuses on a curated selection of directors from each company, those whose work and personalities are best positioned to thrive in a new market.

From Feels Like Home, director Emanuel Hoss-Desmarais will now be represented in London through You Are Here. And from You Are Here, directors Supernova, Joffrey Jans, Jovardi, and Marko Roth will be represented in Canada through Feels Like Home.

Likewise, Feels Like Home has highlighted several of its own directors for increased visibility in the UK.

More than just simply representation, the intention here is to forge genuine creative expansion. Feels Like Home sees clear opportunities for UK talent to connect with Canadian agencies, particularly in areas where You Are Here has deep expertise such as photography, tabletop, and emerging AI-driven creative. “I think we can help our directors grow and be seen in different markets,” Marni explains. “You Are Here has a variety of photography, tabletop, and AI opportunities that can be part of the Canadian market.”

Canada, she notes, has creative sensibilities that sit somewhere between the US and UK, a market that values craft and authenticity, and one that may be especially receptive to You Are Here’s aesthetic.

What Comes Next

For Canadian agencies, the partnership effectively extends Feels Like Home’s offering. Selected You Are Here directors are already appearing on the Feels Like Home website, and agencies can now contact the Toronto shop directly for access to those filmmakers.

'Wonderful Chaos' for Leibniz, directed by Marko Roth

“Our talent can be appealing to our different markets,” says Marni. “I always say that Canada is a bit less broad than the USA and can be comparable to the UK.” By pairing directors with the right briefs and the right cultural context, both companies see the partnership as a way to bring fresh creative flavours into their clients’ worlds.

'House Party' for Chupa Chups, directed by Jovardi

Though the affiliation is still in its early days, Feels Like Home says it’s already seeing encouraging signs of interest, particularly for Supernova, the multidisciplinary director/photography duo whose work has begun catching attention in Canada.

Although no co-produced projects have launched publicly yet, both companies expect the cross-pollination to generate new creative possibilities as agencies explore the expanded rosters.

'Feel the Energy' for Makita, directed by Joffrey Jans

For Feels Like Home, the partnership represents both a strategic expansion and a reinforcement of its mission: to support great talent and open new pathways for collaboration. For You Are Here, it marks a meaningful foothold in a market that aligns aesthetically and offers fresh production opportunities.

Or, as Marni puts it: “It’s two companies coming together to help open up creativity in our respective markets.”
