Hot off the heels of 58-year-old college freshman Tom Cillo joining a Division III school’s football team, Aspercreme has hopped on the excitement, securing him as the oldest football player to sign an NIL deal.
The partnership, from The Martin Agency and came to life in a matter of 72 hours, has launched on Tom and Asperceme’s Instagram.
Tom already uses and loves the product, and since the brand is all about empowering people 55 and older, the partnership could not BE a better fit.
This move reflects the growing rise of unconventional NIL and endorsement deals. For Aspercreme, it’s a way of tapping into the subculture of college sports. This follows the brand's bespoke campaign for the Spinal Tap II release just a month ago. By finding new ways to project itself into the zeitgeist, Aspercreme is reinforcing its mission to empower people 55 and older to live life on their own terms - challenging ageist stereotypes and proving that getting older doesn’t mean slowing down.
