Creative duo Anecdote has unveiled CONTACT, an abstract mixed-media short film developed through L’ÉLOI’s LAB, a program designed to support artists on L’ÉLOI’s roster in exploring, experimenting, and pushing the boundaries of their craft.
Blending modern mixed-media techniques, CONTACT captures the anxiety sparked by today’s relentless hyperconnectivity, then pivots toward a quieter truth. As the film moves from tension to release, it invites viewers back to a more authentic experience of life while asking them to embrace innovations that may feel unsettling at first.
Told across three chapters, the film moves from The Cycle, a cold, mechanical loop of doomscrolling, into The Junction, where raw eye contact and shared moments introduce intimacy and discomfort, and finally reaches Liberosis, a release into colour, nature and childlike indifference.
Built as a technical and creative playground, CONTACT showcases Anecdote’s full 360 offering, combining live-action filmmaking, 2D and 3D animation, typography, props and set design, and AI/ML experimentation. Motion-controlled sequences shot with a robotic camera arm meet layered graphic compositions in post, with emerging AI tools used as creative instruments to reshape imagery, rhythm, and transitions at key moments.
With CONTACT, Anecdote marks a clear new phase in their career, defined by technical confidence, interdisciplinary storytelling, and a drive to keep redefining their creative limits.
